She was very attentive and supportive throughout my journey!!"
Crista's Story:
"Very professional, dedicated and loving women. I could have never done it without them, I am truly blessed to have not one but three angels that day. God Bless."
Laura & Chris' Story:
"Jennifer & Naeemah are wonderful and I will recommend them to anyone. I felt very well cared for and safe and felt the safety of my baby was the first importance, also knowing that there was a doctor connected to the birth center gives a mom real piece of mind when faced with teh decision if she should have her baby in the center or in the hospital. Wonderful place to give birth. Thank you for doing what you do best."
Amanda's Story: My Dream Come True
"With my first child, I had pre-eclampsia and had to labor lying flat on my left side with all sorts of monitors hooked up to me and medications going through my IV. When I got pregnant again, my dream was to be able to deliver naturally where I could be mobile and choose how I wanted to labor. A Birth Center was the perfect place for me! I had the security of having an OB on call and a transfer to the hospital if there was an emergency. Yet, I had the flexibility and freedom to labor how I wanted and in a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere, My midwife was Jennifer, and she put me at ease throughout my prenatal visits. When I went into labor, she met me with a smile at the birth center. It was good to see a friendly face, and a comfort to be in a familiar place. She and Naeemah set me up in a comfortable room with my mom and husband there to keep me company and help me through the contractions. It was like laboring in a big hotel room. There was a big bathtub and a big bed. Even the lighting was warm and dim what a contrast from the florescent light and sterile atmosphere of a hospital! Throughout my labor, Jennifer was attentive to my needs and really listened to how I was feeling and helped me understand what my body was doing. I felt like she trusted me and empowered me as a laboring mother. I felt great! I was able to eat and drink throughout labor and was eating breakfast within and hour of delivering a healthy baby girl. I was in the shower within 2 hours and on my way home 5 hours after the delivery! It was wonderful to be home with my family, enjoying our new bundle of joy and resting in peace and quiet. Even after the delivery day, there was a home visit where the midwife checked out the baby and me Jennifer faithfully called throughout the next week to answer any questions and to encourage me. I want to give a huge "thank you" to "A Birth Center" for the quality of care that my baby and I received. Thank you also to Jennifer for being available to me and being so attentive to my needs. This birth was truly a dream come true for me."
Vanessa's Story: My Birthing Experience
"Everyday I thank God for A Birth Center in Hallandale, Florida. I felt very at home and at peace from the first day I got there: I could think of no better place to give birth to our first child. The staff were very efficient, capable and empathetic to my needs and "embraced" me as part of their extended family. So it was no surprise that the actual birthing experience was so spiritually enlightening and sacred reflection, my memory was of being surrounded by loving and experienced midwives-Jennifer and Onidis and my wonderful doula Naeemah, in the candle lit "feng shui" room. There was uplifting and soothing spiritual music, a sense of calm and order, which after all is how nature intended birth to be. After 4 hrs. we were blessed with a healthy, vibrant son and had confidence in his well being due to the ability to birth him naturally in the private birthing suite which allowed for an interactive and intimate experience that I my husband and mother will never forget. We will be forever grateful and always have a special place for you all in our hearts. We love you, Vanessa, Dustin, and sweet Riley xoxo"
Heather's Story
I work at the birth center, so when I got pregnant, of course, there was no question where I wanted my first child to be delivered. I went to all of the childbirth classes with Naeemah - which were excellent. They made me very confident about my decision and my ability to birth naturally.
I didn't want a hospital birth for several reasons. I wanted the "birth stories" on TV religiously, and every birth, no matter how well they edited them always lacked a personal relationship between the doctor/midwife and the expectant families. Also they always try to push the epidural and I really wanted to try a natural-medication free-birth. Also I had heard stories about sharing rooms at the hospital or worse some women I know had to deliver in the hallway because there were no rooms available when they went into labor. This would not work for me or my first child...I wanted an experience I would never forget.
Well that's exactly what I got. I went into labor at 10:30 p.m. and labored at home doing the techniques Naeemah taught me such as hot showers and breathing. My water broke at 4:00 a.m. and my midwives, Jen, Melissa, and Debra (I couldn't pick just one!!!!) all decided to meet me at the birth center at 6:00 a.m. When my husband and I arrived I was already 8 cm dilated. At 9:51 a.m. my husband delivered our perfect little son, with the help of the midwives of course.
I had a wonderful experience!!!! I couldn't have asked for anything more. My midwives were a great team. They all comforted and helped me in different ways. They worked together and told my husband ways to help and comfort me, but they also gave us our space. The entire experience (except the labor pains, or course) was excellent. I got to have my husband, mother, niece, and not to mention half of my co-workers at my son's birth, but the most important part is that I got the birth and wanted and the support I needed. My baby was born healthy and alert and we were all well taken care of, and I learned that I am stronger than I ever thought I was.
I will definitely be having my next child at the birth center,
With love and gratitude
Heather.
Tameka's Story
"The experience was absolutely awesome!! I contribute my speedy labor to letting my body do what it naturally knows how to do. I believe the key to getting thorugh the natural process is having support from both my husband and my midwife and trying to be relaxed when contractions come. When my husband wasn't there or he needed a break Jennifer was there. What I loved was the fact that she let my body tell me what to do. She never told me when to push, she never checked to see if my dilation had increased from 8 to 10 centimeters. Jennifer knew that my body would tell me what to do. I am glad that I decided to have my baby at The Birthing Center with Jennifer and I would do it again. "
